2022 Bike Drive Finale

Donate

For the second year, We are partnering with Variety The Children’s Charity to build and donate fifteen adaptive bicycles for children with disabilities. Each bike is custom made based on the child’s individual need. We are super excited to be able to partner with Variety to meet this very special need!

The Toys for Tots program extends back to the late 1940’s as a charitable program of the United States Marine Corps. We directly support two Marine groups who distribute toys throughout Allegheny, Butler, and Beaver Counties as well as throughout Western Pennsylvania.

Our bicycle drive helps fill an important role for children in the Toys for Tots program. Bigger ticket items must be donated directly to the Marines as they are limited in what they can spend to purchase a toy.

We raise money and buy brand new bikes that we give directly to the Marines. Please help support our program by purchasing a bike. (Click the "donate" button below.)

We’d love to have your help in transporting the bicycles and delivering them to the Marines on Thursday, December 7th, 2023 at the Wildwood Country Club. Please sign up below.

Why Bikes?

We began this bike drive in 2008 with the support and help of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors who have sponsored an annual luncheon to support Toys for Tots. Financial Planner Al Todd had served on the board for many years and had learned that larger, more expensive items must be donated to the Marines as they are limited on what they may purchase. The Marines made mention that some bicycles were in need.

Al grew up riding his bike everywhere. He decided that every child should have the opportunity to have a bike to ride. That year, and with the ongoing support of his company, he raised funds to purchase 31 bicycles. In 2009, funds were raised for 78. 2010 saw 166 bicycles delivered. In 2011 there were 200 and in 2012, it grew to 300 bicycles.

We purchase our bikes from Walmart in Gibsonia, PA. They are terrific to work with and we appreciate their generous support of the program.

Please consider donating to our cause.

Spread the love this holiday season, and put a smile on a child's face. With your donation, a child will have the opportunity to have the right of passage of riding a bike. Al’s Bike Drive is a registered 501(c)3 non profit organization.

You can also make a donation via PayPal.
